Most people in antiquity were cousins to aboriginal peoples of today, always in thorough contact with their Environment meant that their sight transcended to what they felt. This spawned artistic constructions big and small, all very much with striking contrasts inspired by nature giving the greatest impressions. Consider looking at any modern aboriginal art and find that the ancients still live amongst us.

     Stonehenge was merely a representation of the world in ancient Britain. The peoples living there then, some say this was 5000 years ago, were completely in tune with their world as well. They built a structure dedicated to the their science, magic and religions. All was blended into one. Sort of the opposite of the present day quest to find the Grand Unified Field Theory, they saw the world from the stand point of everything unified.

     Weather wise, Stonehenge would have never been built today. Present day weather in the UK is far too cloudy to justify such a structure to be of any use. Stonehenge was amongst other things a mystical solar calendar for daily usage. Modern scientists suggest the idea that it was warmer during its construction, causing drier air, less clouds, this reasoning does not make sense given that modern day UK is cloudier and wetter most likely as a result of Global Warming. There is a better reason for the Sarsen superstructure, it was built during colder weather, in this case air certainly became clearer and much drier, this offered a great opportunity to study the sky.

     What happened? It was simply colder then or for some unknown reason, the Gulf Stream ceased to flow towards Northern Europe, in this case, UK weather would have turned to be very much sub-arctic in nature. Cold dense air caused extreme refraction effects, particularly near the horizon. At sunset or sunrise, the sun disk transformed itself to several fascinating geometric structures, causing it to briefly look like the lintels on top of the Sarsen pillars. Thus, the very existence of Stonehenge was inspired from the sky, copied by large megaliths in order to capture the magic of a round sun transforming itself into a rectangle. Dedication for permanency, ode to the sun, drove the builders to use large stones.

     Proof is literally found with the stones themselves, the lintels are placed at a height roughly when the sun starts to be visible without causing too much pain to the naked eye. The stones were most likely sledged on snow or sea ice over very long distances, also the fallen pillars attest of the thawing of a much more frozen soil present when the megaliths were once placed together.

     The following is an animation based on real pictures about one sunset, estimated from the middle of the Henge during a day at a spring equinox a long time ago. The images of the sun were really taken from one Arctic sunset sequence at a milder time at winter’s end. A truer representation could have been done with the same camera filming from the center of Stonehenge and also taking an Arctic sunset with identical camera settings, but this was not possible since access to the middle of Stonehenge was restricted. A sun disk masterpiece observatory

     During once upon a time sunset or sunrise observations, it was decided to demarcate 12 specific days, or 24 horizon sun events a year. There was great importance placed in the appearance of the sun when seen near the underworld. As with the animation below, it took 3 pillars to achieve a single session, an observation of omens from the sun. Each event was separated in two steps, one for dating, the other for studying, conversely two windows or frames were needed. The first Sarsen frame identified the sun position, if it was glimpsed in full at the center of the gap just below the Sarsen lintel, a full sunset skimming would be seen in the next Sarsen frame without causing damage to observers eyes. Within the first Sarsen gap, the ellipsoid sun disk should feature prominently at the middle between the upper Pillars, it was still dangerously bright, but eventually eclipsed by the 2nd pillar. The sun disk reappeared much transformed within the bottom of the second frame, as a bright rectangle skimming the horizon, a much safer for naked eye observations, this was the time to study the inklings of the underworld. Viewed from the center of the Sarsen circle, the mostly rectangular sun appeared to skim the horizon, a mirror image was set in stone above. The Gap between the Sarsen lintels at the horizon mark varies from 0.55 to 0.9 meters (measured from pictures). Not surprisingly, again seen from the center of Stonehenge, the rectangular sun skimmed the horizon by 0.5 meters at the Equinoxes and 0.9 meters during winter Solstice, safe observations lasted about 15 minutes or much longer during Mid-winter.

Sarsen lintels represent rectangular suns, which only happens at the edge intersecting two worlds, the
horizon. Therein the circle is the raised underworld. On top of trilithon pillars is the world of humans,
where the sun and moon movements are described. Spirits live through blue stones, shaman helpers.
Some of Stonehenge seems a little more revealed, but still mysterious.

      The basic design of Stonehenge rocks have enormous similarity with what is called Inukshuk’s, they are Arctic marking stones made by the people of the Canadian Arctic, Inuit. Built throughout the ages,Inukshuk's have several shapes but one style has very close to the picture above, please look at the following links for explanations and pictures:

     Inukshuk’s were and are essential markers for letting a fellow hunter know about the location they are on, Inukshuk’s can also have a religious or spiritual meaning. Inukshuk’s are in general smaller than the Stonehenge bigger rocks, and can be very much like its Blue stones in certain instances in size and appearance. The lintels and larger Stonehenge uprights are in essence the same as the human shaped Inukshuk hip and legs as with a recently Inuit made large construction done in Vancouver Canada:

     And so the link between Stonehenge and the Arctic can still be seen today by silent rock sentinels, a reminder for what was and what is a world living in Cold air.
