Simple talk, trust it gains and gives can solve the biggest problem or mystery. From besetment through multi year ice no longer in existence, comes logs, priceless, valuable beyond money. The secret of Franklins mystery, its fuel, is the promised reward, huge in the days of the search, and by oral memory amplified by time. Yet eventually comes a time when secrets and rewards have no meaning. One wonders if people simply talked to Inuit so many years ago, either if Franklin himself dialogued like John Ross in 1835, there wouldn't be a mystery to unravel. There would have been heroic sailors, surviving Natures coldest breaths, returning home, after living like Inuit. Yet imitation was not a flattery in 1848, Arctic "primitives" superior in their own lands, were ignored, the curse was set by ignorance, anyone not recognizing their talent failed, like Scott vs Amundsen to the South Pole many years later, Norwegians understood what Franklin followers didn't. The world is not made of one group of people masters over all. None are superior to others at all times, but some have advantages to share, if sharing is done. This applies today. What benefits there is in revealing a mystery frozen in a bitter time, when native peoples were conquered not appreciated. What honor to live, to feel when these times are finally gone. A new understanding rises, we the people of the world must simply respect each other, better worlds rise from trust gained by talking in kindest ways even when the cultures are so dramatically different. |
